Blackjack

From my last Vegas trip, I won $250 (took out $100 and kept making $20 bets)

So here are some good resources for learning…

Also, some terminology and etiquette:

-place money on the table when exchanging for chips (and don’t have the dealer reach over)

-“color up” means to trade your smaller denomination chips for higher demonization chips (of equal value of course)

-don’t ever have the dealer reach over to grab the chips when you do “color up”

-if they hand you a red or yellow card (called a cut card), it is because the dealer wants you to cut the deck

-you can use the black jack matrix at the casino table (they encourage it… probably since the probability is in their favor)

Other misc. rules:

-insurance: if the dealer has an Ace, you can place an equivalent of half your bet on the insurance line

My rules:

Always hit when my total is below 11

Always stand when my total is 17 or above

Always hit when my total is 16 or below, and the dealer has 7, 8, 9, 10, ace

Always stand if the dealer has 6 or below, unless I have less than 13, then hit

Double when my total is 11

Double when the dealer has a 5

Don’t touch card with two hands (they will yell at you)

DJ Lessons from Ben

Thought I’d jot down some tricks Ben taught me yesterday:

-use Cue to listen to the track through the headphones

  • The volume slider is for the main speakers

-use auto loop to loop a certain part of a song (I think default is 16 seconds). This button is at the bottom left

-use the hot buttons to quickly jump to a certain part of a song (there is only 8 for the deck he has). This is also found bottom left

-use the “filter” button (bottom left) plus the high/low nob (center) to do the “flying” or under water effect

-the right side has a slider that you can use to control the bpm of the selected song
